Abuja hosts International Nigerian Telecommunications Summit

Abuja, Nigeria’s seat of power will be hosting the ‘4th International Nigerian Telecommunications Summit with the theme: Sustaining the Growth.’ The event is slated to hold this year from 19th to 20th September at the Hilton Hotel, Abuja. The event held in London last year.

Organised by CWC Associates of London in collaboration with Nigeria’s Ministry of Communications, this year’s summit, as is others in the past, will be providing a forum for investors, government officials, regulators, operators (GSM and fixed line), contractors and supply companies to meet.

It will also provide a window for other service providers and ICT procurement specialists, a mix of corporate entities and NGOs to network extensively, learn about the latest technological developments and investment opportunities in the Nigeria’s fast growing telecom sector.

“We are looking forward to a very fruitful Summit that will provide a knowledge-sharing platform to discuss the latest opportunities on investment in the GSM, fixed-line and satellite sectors in Nigeria’s expanding telecom sector,” said Nigeria’s Minister of Communications Chief Cornelius Adebayo in Lagos.

Nigeria’s has become one of the world’s fastest growing markets for telecom with number of telephone lines growing from only 450, 000 telephone lines to 14 million in less than four years of deregulation, according to a recent statement by the Nigerian Communications Commission, the country’s regulator.

With the mobile market recording rapid uptakes, investment opportunities have continue to multiply. This year’s Summit will be focusing among other issues on ‘Government initiatives to stimulate investment and private sector growth; Key drivers for market development and network expansion; New market opportunities for GSM (value added services); Technological innovation to enhance operator performance and service quality and Evolution of rural telephony.’
