Cameroon hosts Commonwealth ICT business forum
Cameroon’s capital city, Yaoundé is to play host to a
two-day ICT event organised by the Commonwealth
Telecommunications Organisation (CTO).
The event, the third of such, signifies the CTO’s
recognition of efforts made by African countries to make
their entrance in the information age and the need for
such efforts to be support by other countries particularly
those in the developed world.
The Yaoundé CTO Forum 2005 with the theme "ICT Business
and Development - The Challenge of Access" will hold from
September 5 - 6 to bring together the international ICT-for-development
community including political leaders and major ICT
players.
Delegations from over 50 CTO member countries as well as
representatives of the Organisation’s sector members are
expected to attend the event, which would also feature the
CTO Annual Council meeting at the same venue.
The CTO Forum in its third year is fast becoming an
influential meeting place of leading personalities and
ideas driving social and economic development by making a
more effective use of ICTs.
It is a once-in-a-year opportunity for the private sector
and other stakeholders to meet with the Commonwealth ICT
community, including government ministers, regulators as
well as director-level staff from operators, manufacturers
and service providers.
Even more special, this 3rd CTO Forum will be adjacent to
a meeting of Commonwealth ICT Ministers at the same place
and time. Organised as part of the Commonwealth Action
Programme for the Digital Divide, the purpose of the
meeting is to finalise a proposal for consideration and
approval by Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting later
in Malta for the CHOGM.
Held in an English an French speaking country, this year’s
Forum will offer unique opportunities to meet with
businesses of the region, including from francophone
countries. For more information about this event, visit
