NNPC
to stake N1.36 billion on satellite watch
Faced by endless attacks on its
pipelines, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC)
is about concluding discussions on a new contract to
facilitate satellite monitoring of its critical
installation. The total figure for the deal is put at
$10miilion (about N1.36 billion).
South African Geospace is believed to
have won the deal but it would work through its Nigerian
partner, an Abuja based IT company offering satellite
solutions built on geographic information system (GIS).
The
contract include providing satellite coverage for all
NNPC’s installations nationwide including pipelines on a
64 cm image resolutions from space and training of the
local manpower to run the on ground mechanism for the
