VGCC EYES NEW MARKET
Nigerian Telecom operator, VICTORIA
GARDEN CITY COMMUNICATIONS (VGCC) Limited has its eyes on
Abuja, Ibadan and Calabar as it expands its Port-Harcourt
network in South-East Nigeria.
CEO
Gbenga Adebayo told Itedge in Lagos that the
company 1,000-switch network sold out within weeks of
launch in oil-rich and volatile Port-Harcourt where
frequent political turmoil had kept investors away for
some time.
"It is a risky terrain no doubt but business is all about
risks and pushing services in areas where they are most
needed" said Adebayo, adding that Port-Harcourt has proven
to be a terrain attractive to fast-growing networks.
| "The future is not wireless but
in wired lines", insisted Adebayo. Full
interview to run in Itedge coming July. More web
reports and audio clips soon. |
The telecom sector is becoming more
susceptible to consumer related issues and only operators
that are able to deliver on quality will remain in the
market in the next few years, says the telecom engineer
who worked with German Telecom giant Siemens AG.
